John 12:25-50 – Light of the World

The one fond of his life will lose it. And the one indifferent to his life in this world into eternal life will guard it. 12.26 If perhaps someone should serve Me, to Me he must follow. And where I am, there also My servant will be. And if someone serves Me, the Father will honor him. 12.27 Now My soul is in a state of trouble and what will I say? Father, save Me out from this hour, but because of this I came unto this hour. 12.28 Father, glorify Your name.” Therefore, a voice came out form heaven, And I have glorified and again will glorify.  12.29 Therefore the crowd, the one standing and having heard, said, “it was thunder.” Others said, “An angel spoke to Him.” 12.30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but because of you.” 12.31 Now judgment is concerning this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out. 12.32 And I, if perhaps, I should be lifted out from the earth I will draw all men unto Myself.” 12.33 And this He said, signifying to what sort of death He was about to die. 12.34 The crowd answered Him, “We have heard out from the Law that the Christ remains into the age and how are you saying it is necessary the Son of Man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?” 12.35 Therefore Jesus said to them, “Yet a little time the light is with you. Walk while you have the light in order that darkness does not overtake you and the one walking in the darkness does not intuitively know where he goes. 12.36 While you have the light walk in the light in order that you become a son of light.” These things Jesus spoke and after departing was hidden from them. 12.37 And having done so many signs from Him before them, they did not believe in Him, 12.38 in order that the word of Isaiah the prophet should be fulfilled, which he said, “Lord, who believed by my report? And the Lord’s arm to whom was it revealed?” 12.39 Because of this they were not able to believe, because again Isaiah said, 12.40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart in order that they should not see with the eyes and should understand with the heart and return and He should heal them.” 12.41 These things Isaiah said when he saw the His glory and spoke concerning Him. 12.42 Nevertheless yet also out from the rules many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees the would not confess in order that become expelled from synagogue. 12.43 For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God. 12.44 And Jesus cried out saying, “The one believing in Me, does not believe in Me, but into the One Who sent Me. 12.45 And the one watching Me, watches the One Who sent Me. 12.46 I, light of this world, have come in order that everyone believing in Me should not remain in darkness. 12.47 And if perhaps anyone hears My utterances and does not believe, I will not judge him for I have not come in order that I should judge the world, but in order that I should save the world. 12.48 The one rejecting Me and not receiving My utterance has the one judging Him. The word which I have spoken, that will judge him in the last day. 12.49 Because I did not speak out from Myself, but the Father, the One Who sent Me, He gave a commandment to Me, what I should say and what I should speak. 12.50 And I intuitively know that His commandment is eternal life. Therefore, that which I speak just as the Father said to Me, thus I speak.
