Experiencing the Holy Spirit – Leading

Now that we understand that the Holy Spirit communicates His desires to us through the desires we get to do what is right and obey God’s desirous will in our lives, we can start to follow those desires and be led by Him.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God – Romans 8:14

As part of our salvation, our bounds have been marked off to the placement of sons. This means we are in a special place of privilege that is not under governor or tutors – not under law. Being a son has nothing to do with the sex of a person, this is referring to a position of maturity.

having marked off our bounds to the placement of sons through Jesus Christ unto Himself according to the good pleasure of His desirous will – Ephesians 1:5

Now I say, up until as long a time as the heir is an inarticulate babbler, he differs nothing from a slave, being lord of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the placement by the Father – Galatians 4:1-2

As sons we are then led by the Holy Spirit, not by law.

And since you are led by the Spirit you are not under law – Galatians 5:18

The righteous live out from faith, not by law. Law is not out from faith. Living out the life we have in Christ is not done by pseudo obeying the Ten Commandments, it is done by walking in faith.

for God’s righteousness is revealed in it out from faith into faith. Just as it is written, the […]

Experiencing the Holy Spirit – Desires

Why do we want the things that we want? There is always a reason behind our desires. Some of them are not so good as others, but a reason none the less.

As part of our salvation our spirits were washed and regenerated, that is, we were born again in our spirit which means we are now connected to God in spirit.

not out from works, the ones in righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us through washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, Titus 3:5

But the one knit together with the Lord is one spirit, 1 Corinthians 6:17

Our spirit is our rational part

For what human intuitively knows the things of a human except the spirit of the human, the one in Him? 1 Corinthians 2:11

Because we are now connected to God in our rational, intellectual part and the Holy Spirit indwells us, He impacts our desires. So the next time you have a desire to do what is right, that desire is not coming from you; rather, it is a direct result of the Holy Spirit expressing to you His desire for you in that situation. Don’t take these desires lightly, they are not natural to our human nature and are contrary to it.

But I say, walk by the Spirit and you will never bring to completion the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the desires of the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. For these are against one another in order that you do not do the things you desire – Galatians 5:17

Now we do not want our sin nature taking advantage […]

The Methods of Satan – Corrupt Communication

What comes out of our mouth matters. It is not just about foul language, but any words that are rotten. Especially in today society the value of true, honest, and good words that are intended to build up and meet the need are of great value because what we listen to every day coming out of the mouths of our social medias, leaders, and news organizations is rotten. Words can help or words can hurt. Words can convey the truth or communicate lies. How we say things is really more important than a lot of times we realize. Rotten words are words that are likened to rotten fruit, they negatively impact everything they are around. These are not limited to foul language, but any word that seeks to corrupt. We often refer to this type of speech today as politically correct. Satan will take advantage of any situation to tempt a saint to use words that are rotten. Do we really want to give a place for the devil in our lives?

Stop letting every rotten word proceed out from your mouth, but what is good (beneficial) towards building up the need in order to give grace to the listener. – Ephesians 4:29

The way we should speak is with grace. Since grace is an attitude whereby we give a benefit without consideration of merit, we do not respond in kind to a person in the way we speak. Rather, we speak in a manner that reflects who we are in Christ, regardless of whether or not they deserve it.

Your words always in grace, seasoned with salt, to know how it is necessary to answer each one. – Colossians 4:6

Be slow to speak, […]

Prepared for Good Works

The importance of training cannot be overstated. In every aspect of our lives the people who do the best are the ones who spend the time to train. From interns to an apprentice, training is an essential part of everyday life. The same goes for living out the Christian life. Often our lives can seem to be so mundane that we could not possibly do something great with God. Getting out of our comfort zone tends to heighten our attitude, whether it is going on a mission trip or leading a crowd of people to salvation or any other goal, and we feel closer to God. We want to do something out of the ordinary, but are we ready for that?

Ever wonder why some people always seem to be in the right place at the right time to help others, and we, ever so willing, never seem to get that opportunity? Well, if you pay attention most of those people are trained to not only handle the situation but pay attention to what is going on around them so they can recognize when someone needs help. I recall a story in the news a while ago of a couple messing around on at beach pretending to drown and the lifeguard comes running over to help, which of course to them they thought it was funny, until he passed them and rescued a child just behind them that was actually drowning. You see, he knew what to look for. He was trained and ready. We should be the same way in our Christian lives, constantly training so we are ready for whenever God wants to use us.

For also you are obligated to be teachers […]

The Methods of Satan – Pride

Pride comes from being puffed up in one’s mind resulting in an opinion that is higher than reality, which produces arrogance and disdainful conduct due to this haughty attitude.

It was pride that caused Lucifer to fall from his position within God’s government

Ezekiel 28:17 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you.

When it comes to pride within the Church it is a temptation that will be levied by Satan against a novice who is placed into a position of a Pastor within the assembly. In Paul’s letter to Timothy he warns him not to place a novice into a position of a pastor due to the likelihood that Satan will use pride against him.

not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. – 1 Timothy 3:6

Pride is also a characteristic of a false teacher. One who teaches doctrine that is contrary to godliness

If anyone teaches otherwise and does not come to healthy words, the [words] of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teaching according to godliness, he is proud, standing upon nothing, but is diseased concerning disputes and arguments out from which come envy, strife, blasphemy, suspicious malignant evils, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose gain is godliness. From such withdraw yourself. Now godliness with contentment is great gain. – 1 Timothy 6:3-6

Pride will also be seen among the unbelievers who stay within the Church.

For men will exist as fond of themselves, […]
