The Methods of Satan – Stealing

Stealing is taking something that belongs to another person that you have no right or permission to possess. It is a major theme in the world system. In many occupations, “theft” is seen as something acceptable. This can be done by overcharging, fake sale prices, getting others to pay for something they did not need, or selling them something that is not what it was presented to be. However, for Christians, stealing should not be a part of our lives.

The one stealing, let him steal no more, but rather labor, while working with his hand the good in order that he should have to give to the one having need – Ephesians 4:27-28

If we are going to suffer for something, let it be for doing what is right.

For let none of you suffer as a murderer, nor thief, nor wrong doer, nor as a busybody, but as Christians, not ashamed, and let him show a proper opinion of God in the midst of this – 1 Peter 4:15, 16

Ultimately stealing comes back to acting independently from God, which is exactly what Satan wants all of us to do. We are not looking at things as they really are and not paying attention to what God’s will is for our lives. Remember, that when we ask according to God’s will, He will give it to us. Therefore, stealing should not be apart of our lives because it is not taking God at His Word. We need to learn to be content within whatever situation God allows us to be in.

Not that according to need I speak, for I on my part have learned in which I am to be self-sufficient […]

This translation is intended to give a clear understanding based on the original language, taking into consideration all available manuscripts to reproduce the original letter from John. The original language should always be considered the only authority by which each word, phrase, and all other parts of speech are based upon. Where additional information is needed to better explain the meaning and use of a word, a footnote has been added.
Because the book of 1st John was originally a letter, it has been returned to its original form to reduce confusion to the reader by breaks in the middle of sentences and concepts caused by the addition of chapters and verses. Brackets and paratheses are used for clarification within the text.
1st John was written by the Apostle John in 90 A.D. from Ephesus.

What was from a beginning, what we have heard, what we have discerned with our eyes, what we have watched, and our hands touched concerning the Word of the life. And the life was manifested, and we discerned, and testify, and announce to you, the eternal life that was before the Father and was manifested to us. What we discerned and heard we announce also to you, in order that you also should have fellowship with us. And the fellowship, indeed our fellowship, is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And this we write to you, in order that our joy should be made full. And this is the message that we heard from Him and announce to you, that the God is light and there […]

The Methods of Satan – Lying

Lying is a temptation that comes from Satan and is intended to create a false or misleading impression. He is the father of lies and where you find lying, he is directly involved.

John 8:44 You are out from the father the devil, and the desires of your father you desirously will to do. He was a manslayer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks out from his own, because he is a liar and the father of it.

He influences situations to persuade saints to lie, even to God

Acts 5:3 But Peter said, “Ananias, because of why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and you to pilfer from the price of the land?

Not speaking the truth is a big deal. Even a little lie is a direct result of the influence of Satan. This is something we should be paying attention to and anyone who lies should be called out for doing this. Especially those in positions of authority.

When it comes to the world system, lying is an integrated part of it and often is seen as a good thing. But how can falsely misleading others be good? The world system was created by Satan to manipulate humans to obey his desires rather than their own. Lying is one of the ways he does this.

Therefore, when politicians, doctors, and leaders lie this is not something that should take a Christian by surprise. They are of the world and the world is fond of its own (John 15:19). Those in the Church who lie are following after Satan and are the […]

The Methods of Satan – Disappointment

Disappointment is used to bring us into a mental state of being defeated in our expectations and hope. This is done by situations coming upon us that we question as to why they are happening to us because we deserve better.

It is through Job’s persecution by Satan that we see all of Satan’s methods that he uses to get us to go against God.

In Job 3:1-13 Job is recorded expressing disappointment in his situation and wishing he was never born. What value was life since he was in this condition?

Remember, Satan’s whole purpose for doing this to Job was to get him to curse God.

Job 2:4, 5 So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”

Job may have never fully understood why God permitted such calamity to come upon him, but we do. It was through this that God fully shows us how Satan works to get us to go contrary to God.

How should we react to a situation that we see as unfair? It should be with thanksgiving and rejoicing.

giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ – Ephesians 5:20

Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice – Philippians 4:4

In everything give thanks for this is the desirous will of God in Christ Jesus unto us – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

We may see a situation we face as unfair and discouraging, which Satan will try to use to bring us to […]

The Daily Christian Life – How Law Negatively Impacts Our Lives

Law has been something humans have always struggled with. Using law to justify themselves before God, make society better, or look good before others. Law at its essence is good, for it seeks to do what is righteous. Criminals are punished and the innocent are protected. However, in reality this does not work out that way. Criminal end up making laws that overlook or cover up their wickedness and the innocent are punished, there is no justice. The reason is that all humans have a corruption within them that negatively reacts to law. This is the same issue we face in our Christian life when we try to live by law.

So then indeed the law is holy, and the commandment is holy even righteous and good. – Romans 7:12

It is good, but the issue is our sin nature uses it against us.

For the sin [nature] taking opportunity through the commandment deceived me and through it (the commandment) it killed. – Romans 7:11

So, how do we overcome this and do what is right?

For sin will not rule you, for you are not under law but under grace. – Romans 6:14

God freed us from the law so that we could live in newness of spirit, not in the oldness of the letter

But now we have been rendered ineffective from the law, having died in which we were being held, so that we are slaves in newness of spirit and not to oldness of letter. – Romans 7:6

Because of this, if we obey His commandment we are free from law. He instructed us to love one another, referring to other Christians, as He has loved us. For by this others will know that we are His disciples, […]
