Galatians

Out from Faith verses out from Law

Galatians 4:12-31

4.12 You become as I am, because I also am as you, brethren, I urge you. You have done me no unrighteousness. 4.13 Indeed you intuitively know that through weakness in the flesh I first brought you the good news. 4.14 And my test, the one in my body, you did not despise nor reject, but as a messenger from God you received me, as Christ Jesus. 4.15 Therefore where is your happiness? For you testify concerning me that if, assuming it were true, you had the natural ability you would have plucked out your own eyes and given them to me. 4.16 So have I, the one telling you the truth, become your enemy? 4.17 They are zealous to you, not properly, but they desire to exclude you in order that your zeal should be to them. 4.18 And it is proper to be zealous always in doing well, and not only in my presences facing you. 4.19 My children, who again I labor in birth until which Christ is metamorphosized in you. 4.20 But I wish to be present facing you now, and to change my voice, because I am at a loss among you. 4.21 Say to me, the ones desiring to be under law, do you not listen to the law? 4.22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one out from maidservant and one out from the free woman. 4.23 But on the one hand the one out from the maidservant was born according to the flesh, on the other hand the one out form the free woman through the promise. 4.24 This […]

Placed as Sons

The Placement of Sonship

Under Law Until the Time Appointed by the Father, Galatians 4:1, 2

Held in bondage to the elementary things of the world system, Galatians 4:3

God Sent His Son to Redeem those under Law, Galatians 4:4-7

Galatians 4:1-7

4.1 But I say upon as much time as the heir is an inarticulate babbler, he differs nothing from a slave, being lord of all, 4.2 but is under guardians and tutors, up until the time limit set by the father. 4.3 Thus we also, when we were inarticulate babblers, we being slaves were under the elementary principles of the world system. 4.4 But when the fullness of time came, God sent forth His Son, being born out from a woman, born under law, 4.5 in order that he should redeem the ones under the law, in order that we should receive the placement of sons. 4.6 And because we are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying “Abba, the Father”. 4.7 Therefore we are no longer slaves but sons, and since sons, also we are heirs of God through Christ.

Acts – Selection of Deacons

Acts

The selection of Deacons

After being released from the council rather than being put to death, due to Gamaliel persuading the council to not be hasty in their action, grumbling rises up among the disciples over the distribution of daily needs. Rather than leaving the Word of God, the Apostles have the disciples select seven men who are placed in the position to oversee the need. These men had to have a good witness, be filled by the Holy Spirit, and be wise.

Paul later gives specific instruction on the requirements for a Deacon in 1 Timothy.

Acts 5:26 – 6:6

5.26 Then departing, the captain with his officers lead them, not with force for they feared the people in order that they should be stoned. 5.27 And after leading them to stand in the council, also the high priest questioned them 5.28 saying, “Did we not instruct with instructing you to not teach upon the basis of this name? And behold you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and you determine to bring upon us the blood of this man.” 5.29 And Peter and the apostles answered saying, “It is necessary to obey God rather than men” 5.30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, Whom you took in hand. hung upon a cross. 5.31 The God lifted up this Prince and Savior to His right hand to give a change of mind to Israel and forgiveness of sins.  5.32 And we are His witnesses concerning these utterances. And also the Holy Spirit, Whom the God gave to the ones obeying Him. 5.33 And the ones hearing were cut to the quick and took […]

The First Dispensation

The Dispensation of Innocence

The first dispensation begins when God creates mankind and places him in a garden in Eden, Genesis 2:8. Its title comes from the characteristics of the dispensation. Humans are in a state of being innocent, not knowing good (that which is beneficial) or evil (that which causes calamity).

The First Dispensation

Adam is given instruction by God concerning the standard by which he and those of the household are to live.

And Yahweh Elohim commanded unto Adam saying, “From every tree of the garden eating you will eat, but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil do not eat from it because in the day you eat from it dying you will die.”, Genesis 2:17

Failure of the Dispensation

Adam chose to knowingly disobey God by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

And the woman saw that the tree was good to eat and that it was desirable to the eyes, and a tree of delight to make wise, then she took from its fruit and she ate and she gave also to the man with her and he ate, Genesis 3:6

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived having come to be in a transgression, 1 Timothy 2:14

The Result of Failure

  • The woman will have to work hard and now will have pain in child birth and her desire will be unto her husband.
  • The man will have to work hard to cultivate the earth for food.
  • Adam’s nature becomes bent due to his determination to disobey God.
  • Adam and Eve die spiritually – they are separated from God in their spirit.
  • Adam […]
