Galatians 5:19

Cleansing From Sin

After confessing our sin, God’s response is to forgive us of that sin and begin to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This cleansing begins when we start to walk in the light and are practicing the truth (the doctrine by which we have victory over sin – Know, Romans 6:6; Reckon, Romans 6:11, Yield Romans 6:13).

But if, perhaps, we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son keeps on cleansing us from every sin – 1 John 1:7.

In God there is no darkness (1 John 1:5), so when we are walking in the light, as He is in the light, we will not manifest any aspect of our sin nature, for it is darkness; rather, we will express the new nature we have in Christ. Therefore, because we will be doing the things related to the light, we will naturally separate and cleanse ourselves from the things of darkness (2 Corinthians 7:1).

Unrighteousness not only includes sin, but also the determination within the mind that works out to sin (All sin has a quality of unrighteousness – 1 John 5:17). That unrighteous determination happens because we are not doing the truth; rather, we are seeking to fulfill the desires of the flesh and walking in darkness. However, as we walk in the light, we are going to be able to train our senses to identify what is proper and what is wrong (Hebrews 5:14), identify the desires from the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21), recognize the methodologies Satan uses to trip us up (Ephesians 6:10-18), stop directing love towards the world system (1 John 2:15), and walk by the Spirit so that we […]

Prepared for Good Works

The importance of training cannot be overstated. In every aspect of our lives the people who do the best are the ones who spend the time to train. From interns to an apprentice, training is an essential part of everyday life. The same goes for living out the Christian life. Often our lives can seem to be so mundane that we could not possibly do something great with God. Getting out of our comfort zone tends to heighten our attitude, whether it is going on a mission trip or leading a crowd of people to salvation or any other goal, and we feel closer to God. We want to do something out of the ordinary, but are we ready for that?

Ever wonder why some people always seem to be in the right place at the right time to help others, and we, ever so willing, never seem to get that opportunity? Well, if you pay attention most of those people are trained to not only handle the situation but pay attention to what is going on around them so they can recognize when someone needs help. I recall a story in the news a while ago of a couple messing around on at beach pretending to drown and the lifeguard comes running over to help, which of course to them they thought it was funny, until he passed them and rescued a child just behind them that was actually drowning. You see, he knew what to look for. He was trained and ready. We should be the same way in our Christian lives, constantly training so we are ready for whenever God wants to use us.

For also you are obligated to be teachers […]

The Daily Christian Life – Dealing with the Strongholds in Our Mind

For our weapons of warfare are not fleshly, but inherent ability by the God towards the tearing down of strongholds, casting down logics and every high thing lifting itself up against the knowledge of the God and bringing every thought into captivity into the obedience of the Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Within our mind we can build up strongholds that are very difficult to overcome. These can be false beliefs or temptations like living by law, speaking in tongues, drinking alcohol, pornography, lying, stealing or anything else that holds us. Often these strongholds are built with the help of others who influence what we believe and how we perceive life. However, when they come up against the knowledge of God, we struggle to overcome them.

Dealing with what goes through our minds can be very difficult when we are not using the methods provided for us in Christ. Our battle is not fleshly, it is spiritual, it is a battle for the mind, and this is why it is important for us to frame our minds correctly. Remember, framing the mind is about setting a proper boundary around who you are and what you allow to remain in your mind. As Christians our frame of mind needs to be on the things above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above where the Christ is seated at the right hand of the God, Frame your mind of the things above, not the things upon the earth – Colossians 3:1, 2

Having this frame of mind, we can then compare the thoughts in our mind with whether or not they fit and if they […]
