The Christian Life

What is the Christian life all about?

Salvation comes by faith, not by works. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 states, “For I delivered unto you at first that which also I received, that Christ died on behalf of your sins according to the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…”. Verse 2 states that this is the good news by which we are saved.
The Christian life begins by believing these facts. You are saved by grace through faith, not by work, Ephesians 2:8,9 “For by grace you are in a state of having been saved through faith, and this is not out from you, but a gift from God, not out from works, in order that no one can boast.”

Faith is taking God at His Word. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of that which is hoped for, the evidence of accomplished deeds not seen.” Faith is always based upon a promise from God.

Grace is God’s attitude by which He gives a benefit without consideration of merit.

Once you believe these facts there is a substantial change that happened to you. It is not something that you can see, and often will not be overcome with emotions, but the affects of this change will influence you for the rest of your life.

Believing is only the beginning of salvation. To learn more about the changes that happen at salvation, how these changes influence your life, and what the Christian life is all about, join us on Sundays for our morning service. It will be well worth your time!

Spiritual Gifts within the Body of The Christ

When a person becomes part of the body of The Christ, they receive a gift from the Holy Spirit. This is a gift that is intended for the common good of the Church, 1 Corinthians 12:7 “Moreover, each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit towards the common good”. Not only are we placed into the body of The Christ, we are also given the means to be able to function as the part of the body that the Holy Spirit determines is the best place for us.

Saints should not be ignorant concerning Spiritual things. There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different services, but the same Lord. For it is God who works all things in all. We each receive only one gift in our life time, as we can only ever serve as the part of the body in which we are placed. The Holy Spirit determines what gift we receive, 1 Corinthians 12:11.

Among the gifts there are gifts of the same kind, and gifts of a different kind. The word of wisdom and knowledge are gifts of the same kind. These gifts were given so that in the beginning of the Church it had the necessary knowledge to obey God and the wisdom to correctly use that knowledge. These gifts were necessary at that time because the churches did not yet have the full revelation of Scripture to guide them as we have today. Of course, since God has provided us with the full revelation, the Church no longer has need for these gifts. In James 1:5 God states to all Christians that if we ask for wisdom, He will give it to us without reproach. He also […]

A Different Gospel alongside the Gospel of The Christ

1:6 I marvel that thus so quickly you change from the one who called you by the grace of Christ into a different kind of gospel, 1:7 which is not of the same kind, except there are some who trouble you and desire to distort the Gospel of The Christ. 1:8 But even if perhaps we, or a messenger (angel) out from heaven should bring good news to you which is alongside that good news already brought to you, it is to be set aside. 1:9 Just as I before said, and again I say, “If, assuming it is true, someone brings good news to you alongside that which you have received; it is to be set aside. Galatians 1:6-9

Those who seek to distort the Gospel of The Christ do it by bringing a different gospel alongside the true good news.  The preposition used to express how this different gospel, that is not a gospel of the same kind, attempts to manifest itself is “Para”, which means, “from the side of”. It can have the sense of contrary to something; however, it still keeps its main meaning, which is to come alongside. So, rather than directly contradicting, as in a face to face conflict, the gospel message they bring, the ones seeking to distort the Gospel of The Christ, comes alongside the true gospel in an effort to change it into something different.

If perhaps anyone brings you a gospel that is alongside (in a contrary sense) to the gospel which you have already received it is to be set aside (Anathema). Although often translated “accursed”, “anathema” comes from the concept of an item that was set aside for the worship, or use, of a god; […]

The Mystery of The Christ

The mystery of The Christ is one of the most important revelations given to the Church, mainly because it involves not only how to be saved, but also how we are to live out our salvation.

In Ephesians 3:3 and 4, Paul writes about this mystery that was given to him by a revelation from God. As the steward of the dispensation of grace, God gave Paul instructions concerning how the household of grace is to live, Ephesians 3:2. These instructions are given in the revelation of this mystery. Paul writes concerning the mystery of the Christ so that we can understand what his insight is.

Since Paul is the steward of the dispensation of grace, the mystery of The Christ is a part of this period in time. It is something that was not revealed to any other generation. In Scripture, seven dispensations are revealed (Innocence, Conscience, Government, Promise, Law, Grace, Fullness of Times). In each of these dispensations, mankind is given instruction by God through a steward. The Church exists in the dispensation of grace and is therefore subject to the standards God gave concerning the Mystery of The Christ

Since we now have insight into what is the Mystery of The Christ it is no longer a mystery to those to whom it has been revealed. A mystery in Scripture is something that was hidden, but now God has made it known, Ephesians 3:5 (which was not made known in other generations to the sons of men, just as now it has been revealed through His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit).

The Mystery of the Christ has to do with the fact that anyone who believes the gospel for salvation is taken […]

The Christian Life

The Christian Life

In Christ

The Christian is placed into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit when he or she believed the Gospel for salvation1. The Christ is a new kind of creation by God that is made up of both Jew and Gentile, in which Christ is the Head and the Church is the Body2. There are no physical or racial distinctions in the Christ3. In Christ, the Christian is complete, lacking nothing4.

Christ in the Christian

The Christian has eternal life because Christ is now living in that Christian5. This also provided the means by which a Christian can live out the life of Christ here on earth.

Sonship

The Holy Spirit places all believers of the Dispensation of Grace as mature sons, whether male or female, and always will be mature sons.6 Sonship is a place of privilege in which the believer is not under any quality of law7.

Priesthood of the Believer

All Christians are placed as priests when they believe and therefore are able to present spiritual sacrifices unto God when they are spiritual 8.

Abiding

Abiding is an essential part of the Christian life. The Christian is only able to manifest the life of God and live out the Christian life when he is abiding (feeling at ease) in his position in Christ9.

The Enemies of the Saints

The Christian has three spiritual enemies that are active today: Satan […]
