The Letter to the Ephesians

The letter to the Ephesian saints was written by Paul, the apostle and the steward of the dispensation of grace, in 62 A.D. from Rome to reveal to the Church the mystery of God, which He kept hidden until now, and give instruction on how to live the Christian life, including how to overcome an attack from Satan.

Salvation

Salvation comes by faith through grace. Today a person is saved by believing that Christ died for their sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3, 41. God is offering salvation by grace, not works2. Grace is God’s attitude whereby He gives a benefit without the consideration of merit. In other words, you cannot earn salvation because God is not offering salvation based upon works, who you are, or even who you will become – no merit is considered3. What God requires for salvation is that you take Him at His Word. The Book of Romans

The original writing of the book of Romans was in the form of a letter. This translation has been put back into this form to emphasis the unity that is within the book, which is often interfered with by chapter and verse breaks that are very poorly placed and lead the reader to misunderstand the context – verses are often placed in the middle of sentences; some chapter breaks are in the middle of sentences and some are in the middle of a context, which lead the reader to believe a break has occurred when it has not. The verses have been superscripted to reduce distraction but still provide a reference point.

Italics = added for clearly. Either implied by the context or added for a smoother English translation.
a = “that which has quality of”. The Greek Language does not have the same concept of an inarticulate article as the English does.

 

The letter to the saints in Rome was written by Paul in A.D. 57-58 from Corinth. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Paul reminded the Corinthian saints what the message for salvation is – Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. Salvation is by faith, not by any quality of work. In this letter Paul goes beyond initial salvation into the Christian life showing how to have victory over our sin nature and walk by the Spirit. This is a Gospel that he is not ashamed of and has the natural ability to save, 1:16.

To “Be” or to “Bear” a Witness

Acts 1:8 …but you will receive natural ability, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be to me witnesses in both Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and up to the ends of the earth.

Do your words line up with your actions?

True evangelism does not come from speaking to everyone you meet about God, it is a natural result of you living your life according to who you are in Christ because by doing so you will show others a quality of God’s character. The threat of hell and damnation never saved anyone. Oh, it may bring hoards into the Churches at times, but they are not truly seeking to know the Lord. How a person comes to a saving faith in Christ is by the kindness of God, never by an expression of His wrath.

Actions always speak loader than words. Telling a person that you are a Christian and living a lifestyle that is no different than an unsaved person is no testimony at all. It just simply shows that you do not really believe what you are saying.

Before Christ ascends to the third heaven to sit upon the throne, He informs the apostles that the Holy Spirit will give them the natural ability to be His witnesses in all the earth. Christ did not instruct them to bear a witness, but rather, he told them they would be a witness. It is the same with us today. We are never told to go out and evangelize the world; rather, we are told to always be ready to give a defense for the hope that we have when we are questioned about it. Colossians

Paul an apostle belonging to Jesus Christ through the desirous will of God and brother Timothy, to the Saints even 1 faithful brethren in Christ in Colossae, grace is to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ2.
