Galatians

Galatians

Galatians

1:1 Paul an apostle, not from men nor through men, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, Who raised Him out from the dead, 1:2 and all the brethren with me, to the assemblies of the Galatia. 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 1:4 Who gave Himself concerning our sins, in order that He should deliver us out from the present malignantly evil age according to the desirous will of God even our Father, 1:5 to Whom the proper opinion (glory) into the ages of the ages. Amen.

1:6 I marvel that in this manner so quickly you change from the One who called you by grace of Christ into a different kind of gospel, 1:7 which is not the same kind; except, there are some who trouble you and desire to distort the gospel of the Christ. 1:8 But even if perhaps we or an angel out from heaven should bring good news to you which is alongside that good news already brought to you, it[1] is to be set aside[2]. 1:9 As I before said, and now again I say, “If, assuming it is true, someone brings good news to you alongside that which you have received, it is to be set aside.” 1:10 For now do I persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if yet I please men, I am not perhaps a servant belonging to Christ. 1:11 Indeed, I make known to you, brethren, the gospel, the good news brought by me, that it is not according to man. 1:12 For I did not receive it from man, nor was […]

The Law of The Christ

Caring for Members of the Body

Pastor Luther Walker

In the book of Galatians[1] Paul states that the bearing of another person’s weight[2] is filling up again the law of the Christ; yet, in Romans he writes that a Christian is not under any quality of law[3]. How do we reconcile passages of Scripture that seem to contradict each other? What does Scripture mean when it states a Christian is not under any quality of law, yet then indicates there is a law of the Christ and a law of the Spirit? Is a Christian under law or not? Ultimately this leads to the underlying question, “As a Christian, what are the guidelines for my life?” To better understand the rules of our household[4], that is to say God’s expectation for how the saved are to live their life today, we can examine how the word “law” is used in Scripture along with its normal meaning and use in everyday life so we know the difference between being under the Mosaic Law or any quality of law and filing up again the Law of the Christ by loving another saint while fulfilling the law the Spirit of life by our walk.

Since we are in the Dispensation of Grace, not the Dispensation of Law, the standard for our household is different. Scripture is very clear on the fact that a Christian is not under the Mosaic Law or any quality of law[5]; however, there is still a standard by which those who are a […]

Philippians – The Things We Consider to be Valuable

The remaining, my brethren, you rejoice in the Lord. To write to you the same things, on the one hand, is not idleness for me, on the other hand, is certainty to you. All of you look out for dogs. All of you look out for bad workers. All of you look out for self-mutilators. For we are the circumcision, the ones rendering religious service by the Spirit of God and boasting in Christ Jesus and not in a state of being confident in the flesh;  although, I on my part am in a state of having confidence even in the flesh, if, assuming it is true, anyone else thinks to be confident in the flesh, I more.  Circumcised on the eighth day, out from the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew out from Hebrews, according to the law a Pharisee, according to zeal, a persecutor of the Church, according to righteousness, the one by the law, being blameless. But what things were to me gain, these things I consider, because of the Christ, to be loss. But therefore also I consider all things to be loss because of the surpassing knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord through whom all things I have suffered loss, and I consider to be refuse, in order that I should gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, the one out from the law, but the one through faith pertaining to Christ, the righteousness out from God upon the basis of the faith; to know Him and the natural ability of His resurrection and a quality of sharing in common with His suffering, being together conformed to His death.

Philippians – One Spirit One Soul

Philippians

Only you live as a citizen in a worthy manner of the Gospel of the Christ, in order that whether I come and see you, or whether I depart, I will hear the things concerning you, that you stand in one spirit, one soul, while together contenting in the faith of the Gospel. And do not be frightened ones in anything from the ones opposing, which to them on the one hand is proof of destruction, but on the other hand to you of salvation, and this from God, because to you it was graciously given on behalf of the Christ not only to believe in Him but also to suffer on behalf of Him, while having the same struggle, of the sort you intuitively see in me, and now you hear by me.

Philippians – Progress of the Gospel

Philippians

Now I determine for you to experientially know, brethren, that the things according to me have come more unto progress of the gospel, so that my bonds in Christ came to be clearly manifested among all the Praetorian guard and all the remaining. And the greater of the brethren in [the] Lord, after being persuaded by my bonds, exceedingly dare without fear to speak the Word. Some on the one hand also because of envy and strife, some on the other hand also because of good pleasure, are proclaiming the Christ. 1.16 On the one hand, the ones out from selfish ambition proclaim the Christ not sincerely, supposing to bring tribulation upon my bonds. On the other hand, the ones out from love intuitively knowing that I am appointed unto a defense of the Gospel. For what? Expect in every way whether in pretense or whether in truth Christ is being proclaimed. And in this I rejoice, but also, I will be caused to rejoice. For I intuitively know that this to me will come down unto salvation through your supplication and provision from the Spirit from Jesus Christ according to my eager expectation and hope, that I will be put to shame in nothing, but with all boldness, as always, even now Christ will be declared great by my body whether through life or whether through death. For to me to live, Christ, and to die, gain. Moreover, if, assuming it is true, to live in [the] flesh, this to me is fruit from work, and what to choose I do not know. Indeed, I am pressed out from two, having the desire to […]
