Happy (μακάριος)

This aspect of “blessed” means to be happy, which is an attitude of enjoyment and pleasure resulting from a sense of well-being and contentment.

When Jesus is speaking to the Jews concerning His Kingdom and the tribulation period that is about to come, He states several things in the Sermon on the Mount that they will go through, yet they can be happy because the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.

Happy are the poor in spirit because the kingdom of the heavens is concerning them, Matthew 5:3.

These ones are happy because they lack in spirit, which is referring to their lack of understanding concerning what the man of lawlessness is doing in Jerusalem as he desecrates the temple of God (Daniel 9:27). Jesus goes on to encourage those who mourn, have an objective mind, hunger and thirst after righteousness, have a pure heart, are peacemakers, and are persecuted and reviled for righteousness, because even though they will go through these things they will all be happy since when Christ returns, He will rescue the Jews in the wilderness and will setup His kingdom in which the nation of Israel will serve as priests to the Gentile nations while living in a land of peace where righteousness rules.

When it comes to the Christians:

Our happy hope is the appearance of our great God even Savior Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). This happy hope is the rapture, the day when Christ returns to take His Church home (1 Thessalonians 4:16). In this day we will be like Him (1 John 3:2) and will forever be with Him (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

Do we have faith? Remember, faith is based upon accomplished deeds that God has done through which we have promises, […]

Regret (μεταμέλομαι)

Regret is a word that comes from a combination of “to care about” and “after”. It is used to express being concerned about something after it has been done, which will result in a change of actions.

While Jesus was teaching in the Temple, the Chief priests and elders came to Him questioning by what authority He is teaching. He responded with a story concerning a man and two of his sons who he asked to go and work in the vineyard. The first one said, “No”, but afterwards regretted it and went (Matthew 21:29). He then rightly rebukes them for not believing the testimony of John the Baptist even though the tax collectors and prostitutes did (Matthew 21:32), for they did not regret rejecting John’s testimony even after seeing others accepting it.

After Christ was betrayed, Judas regretted what he had done when he saw that Jesus was condemned to death and returned the money he had made for betraying Christ to the Chief priest and elders (Matthew 27:3). His regret was not that they beat and imprisoned Him, but that He was condemned to death. This is what caused Judas’ to give care again about what he had done.

Paul expressed his regret for how the first letter to the Corinthians saint had to be written, although he did not regret what was written, only that it caused them grief. However, it was necessary for their benefit and to correct the wrongs they were involved in (2 Corinthians 7:8).

When it comes to the oath that God made with Christ to place Him as a priest according to the order of Melchizedek, He has no regret (Hebrews 7:21). God does not regret His oath with Christ. Therefore, […]

The Methods of Satan – Stealing

Stealing is taking something that belongs to another person that you have no right or permission to possess. It is a major theme in the world system. In many occupations, “theft” is seen as something acceptable. This can be done by overcharging, fake sale prices, getting others to pay for something they did not need, or selling them something that is not what it was presented to be. However, for Christians, stealing should not be a part of our lives.

The one stealing, let him steal no more, but rather labor, while working with his hand the good in order that he should have to give to the one having need – Ephesians 4:27-28

If we are going to suffer for something, let it be for doing what is right.

For let none of you suffer as a murderer, nor thief, nor wrong doer, nor as a busybody, but as Christians, not ashamed, and let him show a proper opinion of God in the midst of this – 1 Peter 4:15, 16

Ultimately stealing comes back to acting independently from God, which is exactly what Satan wants all of us to do. We are not looking at things as they really are and not paying attention to what God’s will is for our lives. Remember, that when we ask according to God’s will, He will give it to us. Therefore, stealing should not be apart of our lives because it is not taking God at His Word. We need to learn to be content within whatever situation God allows us to be in.

Not that according to need I speak, for I on my part have learned in which I am to be self-sufficient […]
